Playa Blanca sits on the southern coast of Lanzarote. Although it is expanding, it is a quiet and tranquil spot centred around a small bustling port and is also home to one of Lanzarote's finest marinas. Playa Blanca is one of Lanzarote's main resorts and the relaxed atmosphere is ideal for those looking for a peaceful break away.
Life in Playa Blanca is centred around its small bustling port, home to a number of brightly coloured fishing boats. From here, ferries operate between the harbour and the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura, famous for its expansive beaches and sand dunes. You can take a relaxing stroll from Playa Blanca's harbour along the pretty seafront promenade which plays host to an array of restaurants and bars. While the resort is not as large as Puerto del Carmen or Costa Tequise it is still one of the main tourist resorts which has a traditional, low-key feel about it and nightlife is quite subdued.
Try one of the tempting seafront fish restaurants and sample the catch of the day. Evening entertainment is mainly hotel-based with live music and professional shows, although there are a couple of music bars in the main resort itself. Not far from Playa Blanca is the secluded Papagayo beach, some eight kilometres away over a fairly rugged road and is best accessed by a 4 wheel drive.
