Opened in 1989 and named after the architect who pioneered this beautiful development, Puerto Calero is now one of Lanzarote's smaller resorts with its high class hotels and prestigious yacht harbour. Surrounded by elegant villas, white-washed apartments and a few waterfront restaurants and cafes, sailors from all over the world navigate their way here to soak up the peaceful, sun blushed atmosphere, unparalleled Atlantic views.
Although there is no direct beach access at Puerto Calero,there are plenty of watery activities available from Puerto Calero ranging from annual sailing regattas to scuba diving lessons, from sedate boat excursions to exhilarating shark fishing trips. The famous white Papagayo beaches are just along the coastline,whilst neighbouring Puerto del Carmen offers popular stretches of beach peppered with watersports facilities.
The marina area has a sprinkling of shops as well as a supermarket for everyday essentials. A wider selection of shopping outlets can be found at nearby Puerto del Carmen which offers everything from quaint gift shops to expensive designer boutiques.
Nightlife in Puerto Calero centres around its restaurants and cafes and nearby Puerto del Carmen has an abundance of evening entertainment to keep you amused well into the early hours.
