Algaida

Located inland, Algaida is a small rural town surrounded by orchards and vineyards. Algaida's name originates from the Arabic 'al gaida', meaning the forest, and Algaida's landscape of almond and fig trees is still there today.

Algaida is set away from coastal crowds, blissfully untouched by the main tourist route, offering a beautiful romantic retreat. Algaida's location makes other areas of the island easily accessible; from capital Palma to Majorca's stunning coastline, Algaida is perfect for exploring picturesque Majorca.

Algaida is a typical rural Mallorcan town, consisting of narrow streets, many without pavements, and a central square dominated by a sandstone church. Algaida is a haven of tranquillity and fine cuisine - most of Algaida's restaurants specialise in local menus and dishes that cannot be found anywhere else. Away from the dining table, Algaida houses a world-famous glass factory, which has made glass in Algaida since 1719. Nearby Algaida, outside the village of Santa Eugenia is Natura Parc, a small zoo and nature reserve.

Algaida's best nearest beaches can be found south, at Cala Pi, Sa Rapita or Cala d'Or. Not to be missed while holidaying in Algaida is a trip to buzzing capital Palma. From Algaida, access to the capital is relatively easy, offering the ideal opportunity to experience Palma's historical and cultural lure in full.
