Situated on the western side of the island, about 9km from Ciudadella, Son Xoriguer merges with the purpose-built resort of Cala'n Bosch. Its peaceful atmosphere suits older couples and families seeking a relaxing holiday. A mini-train trundles through the resorts in high season and Son Xoriguer is host to a watersports centre.
The small, sandy, Blue Flag beach at Son Xoriguer is a major local watersports centre, with a wide choice of sports including windsurfing, water-skiing, parasailing, sailing and scuba diving.
There is a handful of shops in Son Xoriguer in its small shopping centre, but a lot more choice is available in Cala'n Bosch, just 1km away. Here, the main shopping area can be found around the north side of the marina. There are regular buses to Ciudadella, once the island's capital, which has numerous shops and a weekly market.
Although there are restaurants and snack bars in Son Xoriguer, there is much more choice around the marina area in nearby Cala'n Bosch, a good place to try to local specialities of arroz marinera (Minorcan seafood paella) and arroz caldoso (fish and rice stew).
